Discovered this mom & pop neighborhood staple on one of my long walks through the neighborhood. As soon as you enter you're hit with the scent of freshly baked bread and this small shop has a great variety of breads. My favorite rolls so far are the cranberry bread, raisin with anise and oats. They're delicious and at a reasonable price too. No wonder it is always packed with patrons and many of the favorite items sell out before noon. The staff is always friendly and attentive. This will be my favorite bakery to visit at least once a week.

A Brooklyn institution for a reason. Nothing overpriced, mediocre here - just absolute dedication to freshness. Their bread is the best and the most affordable you'll ever find. From the baguettes to the seeded loafs and cinnamon rolls, it's everything you ever want in fluffy, fresh bread. Can't wait to try everything in this shop. It's the stuff of dreams. 5 stars!!!!

Fun little bakery we came across over the weekend while in Cobble Hill. They had excellent Italian pastries and it was a first for me to try homemade lady fingers --they were excellent! I also really love the respect shortbread cookie, it was perfectly buttery and salty-sweet. I don't know the name of the caramel/chocolate cookie but it was also delicious! Great counter service as well.

Short review- Go here for breads or rolls. For sweets (especially anything with almonds/marzipan) go up a block to Monteleone's. I've been to this bakery a good amount of times. In short, if you're looking for cookies and stuff, they're a good amount better than Court Street nearby (which tends to have some stale things) and I would say the sweet stuff is worse here than at Monteleone's a block or so away but the breads are better here. They usually have lines on the weekend and the people here are very friendly. I go here for one specific thing; their cranberry walnut bread which is either available as loafs or as individual very large rolls. I believe the loaves cost $6.50 or $7 (or perhaps cheaper) while the giant rolls cost a bit under $2 which is absurd for how good they are and how large they are. They're pretty famous for their lard bread also as was G Esposito before they closed. I've also had an onion loaf which was solid as well some semolina bread which was good. Not much else to say. It's a staple in the area for a reason.

Cash only! Lard bread was good, had a lot of flavor and made a nice open faced sandwich. Also left with a breakfast pastry with raisins and custard that was fantastic as well as chocolate (lace?) cookies that were a nice small treat. A nice stop when in the area.

Five generations of artistry Good people own and work there This place is in the longest memories that I have... 5 decades worth. Caputo's large bread is coveted in my family. The olive bread is Worthy of all your attention. You could go in blindfolded and leave delighted. It tastes like licking Brooklyn off your lips when you leave this place. Oh... And the aroma it's like it's own terroir for bakeries. Truly a piece of my heaven from Spirit to belly. ... I have no desire to seek for better than the glorious pleasure I receive upon and after a visit to Caputo's. Simple and masterful. Just the best best place. CAPUTO'S has been a part of my family holidays gatherings and meals for quite a bit longer than my 52 tears. Caputo's has built traditions and been with us along the way as we've grown families. Caputo's is the tradition. Really worth the experience.

Always loved caputos, I'm out of the area now but still Go back, it's good but not unbelievable. I have a Huge selection now where I l

Caputo's Bake Shop is a true gem in the Carroll Gardens neighborhood of Brooklyn. Their desserts and breads are simply amazing, but the standout for me has always been their Lard Bread. It's the best I've ever had and a cherished part of my childhood. Anytime I'm back in New York, I make it a point to pick up a dozen loaves to bring back to California. This place is an institution, and I only wish they offered shipping. Caputo's, please get on Goldbelly so everyone can enjoy your incredible Lard Bread!

We'd always stop by Caputo's for some bagels or croissants, but of course they have tons of other amazing baked goods as well. This is your quintessential Carroll Gardens Italian bake shop. Great, friendly people, great prices, and amazingly delicious breads, bagels, baked goods, etc.

Walking down Court Street I looked into the window of Caputo's Bake Shop and just knew that this is an amazing bakery. I wasn't disappointed. Walking in I was surrounded by the wonderful aroma of delicious bread. Just at all of their bread is eye candy. There are so many varieties of thick crusted breads along with challah and scones, you want to buy one of each. We choose a sourdough bread, a cranberry-walnut bread and a scone. As we continued walking in the neighborhood it was hard not to continue nibbling on the breads that I was carrying. It's just a really great bakery for breads and not so fancy baking. There aren't cakes and pies, just baking that touches the soul.
